Businesses looking to grow

The majority of small businesses in the UK are looking to grow, new figures have revealed.

For its 'Voice of Small Business' Member Survey', the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) quizzed 11,367 respondents and found that 58 per cent of small firms said they are looking to expand over the next 12 months.

Of those, 74 per cent want to increase their client base, 57 per cent are hoping to develop their online presence and 26 per cent want to take on more staff.

John Walker, the national chairman of the FSB, said that small firms have shown "resilience" in the face of the downturn and wants to see the government do more to help them.

"Small businesses are committed and resilient, but they now need the government to match their ambition for growth," he said.

Businesses looking to expand in 2012 will need to ensure that their commercial business insurance policies cover their new endeavours. ADNFCR-16000414-ID-801298222-ADNFCR
