UK hoteliers are likely to see a surge in bookings this year as the majority of Britons will opt for a 'staycation'.Research consultancy BDRC Continental's 'Annual Holiday Trends 2012' report reveals that 58 per cent of respondents are seriously considering taking their main holiday in the UK this year.
Despite the economic crisis, Brits seem reluctant to give up their annual vacation, with 89 per cent considering a break of seven days or more.
Steve Mills, Director, BDRC Continental, believes that it is not just financial reasons and major events such as the Olympics which are attracting holidaymakers to the UK.
"Holidaying in the UK has become a positive choice. Standards of service and accommodation are undoubtedly improving and people are re-discovering what the UK has to offer," he said.
In preparation for receiving a surge in guests, businesses will need to ensure that their hotel insurance policies adequately cover them for the extra stock and staff they may need to employ.
